FGV promotes transparency and sustainable management with its 2024 Sustainability Report

More and more organisations understand that clearly and rigorously reporting their activity, impacts and commitments is key to strengthening the trust of their stakeholders. In this context, at Energía Local we supported Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV) in preparing its 2024 Sustainability and Management Report, a document that represents an important step in consolidating its commitment to responsible information and continuous improvement.

The report provides a structured overview of FGV’s activity during the year, as well as the main actions carried out and their impacts on people, the territory and the environment. Beyond a reporting exercise, this document makes it possible to understand how a public transport company integrates sustainability into its day-to-day management.

In addition, this edition of the sustainability report is particularly relevant due to the context in which it was developed. During 2024, the DANA put the response capacity of infrastructure and public services to the test. In this scenario, FGV demonstrated its commitment by focusing on ensuring the daily mobility of thousands of people despite operational difficulties.

These types of situations show that sustainability is not limited to regulatory compliance or non-financial reporting, but rather demonstrate resilience, adaptability, and responsibility towards the environment and society. Including this context in the report makes it possible to better understand the true scope of FGV’s management and the impact of its activity.

Two key frameworks in the field of corporate reporting were used as references for its preparation.

  • On the one hand, Law 11/2018 on non-financial information and diversity, which sets out the transparency requirements that certain organisations must meet in relation to environmental, social, labour and human rights aspects, and the fight against corruption.
  • On the other hand, the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards, one of the most widely used international frameworks for sustainability reporting. These indicators make it possible to structure information in a comparable, rigorous way and aligned with international best practices.

The result is a report with higher-quality content, providing relevant information on FGV’s activity and offering its stakeholders a more complete view of its performance and sustainability commitments.

In addition to the content, one of the project’s highlights has been its focus on accessibility and clarity of information. The report is presented with an engaging visual design, intended to make it easier to consult for the different audiences the organisation interacts with: the public, public administrations, employees, suppliers and other local stakeholders.

This approach reflects a key idea in today’s reporting: sustainability must not only be measured, it must also be explained well. A clear, structured and understandable report ensures that information truly reaches those who need it. The publication of this report reflects FGV’s commitment to transparency, accountability and continuous improvement. Each edition of the report is an opportunity to continue improving the quality of reporting and the integration of sustainability into the organisation’s strategy and management.

At Energía Local, supporting organisations such as FGV in this process is part of our purpose: helping companies and institutions turn sustainability into a real tool for management, decision-making and value creation.
