World Energy Saving Day is celebrated every year on 21 October with the aim of raising awareness in society about the importance of using energy more efficiently.
In a context characterised by global challenges such as climate change and resource scarcity, this day is key to both individual reflection as citizens and collective action in the business environment to take steps towards greater energy efficiency.

World Energy Saving Day is designed to encourage people to think about their daily energy consumption and how small actions can make it much more efficient.
We are talking about actions such as controlling the temperature in the home. According to the European Commission, “lowering the thermostat at home by one degree saves about 7% of the energy used for heating”.
Other examples of energy-saving measures in the home include using natural light wherever possible, choosing to reuse and repair rather than buy new, and using energy-saving LED light bulbs, which use up to 80% less energy than traditional light bulbs and last longer.
In the same vein, the Earth Hour initiative, which takes place on the last Saturday in March, consists of a voluntary one-hour blackout to promote energy saving, the reduction of polluting emissions and the reduction of light pollution.

The drive for energy savings and efficiency is also being transferred to the business sector, where it is becoming increasingly important.
